I am so excited to share with you Baby J Designs. I first stumbled upon their shop while browsing Instagram and instantly fell in love with their adorable onesies. I am so excited about being able to collaborate with them! I am also excited to share her story with you and inspiration for starting her shop! Its so inspiring seeing another mommy's story!

"I am 27 years old and have a one year old baby girl with another baby girl on the way! My husband and I have been married for 3 years and we live in Kaysville, Utah, a little city found between the beautiful mountains and the Great Salt Lake.  In addition to being a full time mom and shop owner, I am also going to school to earn my degree in Elementary Education.

The shop was inspired by our baby girl, Julianna. Our journey to starting a family, like many, has been a long and difficult one. After suffering a miscarriage in February of 2013, my husband and I slowly healed, grew stronger together, and decided to try again. After some time, we found out that we were expecting again. This was bittersweet, I was scared yet excited. We knew what it was like to feel joy and loss. Needless to say, our little girl grew and came without any trouble. We love her so very much, she is our whole life, she has our hearts and we feel so blessed to have her with us!

I once heard a quote and it describes our journey perfectly,
"It isn't something you get over. It's something you get through, and then you carry it with you for the rest of your life. It's part of our story now. Part of our history. It will always, always hurt. Just not quite as bad someday."
We look back now and realize that it only prepared us for the treasure that would come into our lives later on.
Having baby J in our lives, together with my love of drawing and creating, gave me the inspiration to open Baby J Designs. Working on the designs each day brings me happiness and I’m excited to share my designs with other moms!

My goals for the shop are simple.  Because these designs bring me such happiness, I only hope to bring some of that happiness to other mothers and their babies.  If a mother gets excited about receiving her onesie in the mail, that’s my goal. If it adds a fun element to a baby’s cute outfit, that’s my goal. If starting my shop motivates another mother to take a chance and start her own small business, that’s my goal!"

Just 10 Seconds at a Time

A few months ago I shared this on my other blog but since so many friends of mine are expecting or welcoming their little ones into the world, I thought it was a great time to share it again!

Mommy's always need encouragement. Becoming a mom isn't easy. As soon as you get home with your bundle of joy, you soon realize that being a mommy is a LOT of work. While I was pregnant with Sophia I had liked quite a few mommy pages on Facebook. I loved reading their posts and I often learned a lot from them. One day, a few weeks before Sophia was born, I clicked on a new posts that was shared on one of those groups. This post seemed a bit different than what I normally saw them share.

In this post, the writer reminded us how difficult being a new mom could be. There will be times where your little one cries and nothing seems to soothe them. Maybe your having issues breast feeding. Whatever the problem is, she reminds us that you only need to make it through 10 seconds at a time. At first I wasn't really sure what that meant. I mean 10 seconds?? Your problem will last much longer than just 10 seconds! I remember the first night I was home with my Sophia. She was so spoiled to sleeping on my chest in the hospital that we couldn't get her to sleep in her co-sleeper. I was so exhausted that I was almost in tears. At the same time, she was having trouble latching and was extremely fussy. I remember laying in the bed with her that night while she cried and I suddenly remembered.....I only need to make it through 10 seconds at a time. At that moment I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and counted to 10. Just those 10 seconds made me feel so much better.

So when your having a rough night with your little one and you feel like crying your eyes out, just remember....you only need to make it through 10 seconds at a time.
